Our work

Carbon Management Europe develops evidence-based policy advice, technical analysis and strategic recommendations to support the large-scale deployment of carbon capture, transport, storage and carbon removal technologies in line with Europe’s climate neutrality objectives. Its outputs include technical reports, policy briefs, consultation responses and position papers, developed collaboratively by Carbon Management Europe members to inform EU institutions, national governments and other stakeholders shaping Europe’s carbon management framework.

Carbon Management Europe’s work is organised through a clear, expert-led structure. Strategic direction is set by the Advisory Council, supported by the Advisory Council Executive Committee. Technical and policy work is developed within thematic working groups, where members collaborate on work programmes agreed at a strategic level. To learn more, download our bylaws.

Carbon Management Europe working groups and networks bring together industry, project developers, researchers, civil society organisations, financial actors and public authorities. Participation in working groups, where Carbon Management Europe’s technical work and policy positions are developed, is open to Carbon Management Europe members. Organisations that are not members can engage through Carbon Management Europe’s networks, as well as through events, workshops and targeted collaborations, which are open to the wider community.

The Government Group provides a dedicated forum for dialogue among public authorities working on industrial carbon management. It supports information exchange on policy development and implementation and operates independently from Carbon Management Europe’s member-led structures.

Carbon Management Europe’s work is informed by balanced participation across defined stakeholder constituencies: research organisations and academia, civil society organisations, energy companies, industrial companies, technology, infrastructure and finance. This structure allows for the development of consensus positions that reflect the full industrial carbon management value chain.

Carbon Management Europe participates in, or coordinates projects which are directly related to its work, including supporting the ETIP Carbon Management under the SET Plan. They are typically developed within or alongside working groups and focus on addressing specific topics, regions or policy questions.
